Rubber Floor Finisher

The purpose of this qualification is to equip a learner with the necessary skills and competence to operate as a Rubber Floor Finisher. The qualification will prepare a learner to restore and prepare substrates and install rubber flooring. A qualified Rubber Floor Finisher will be able to install rubber flooring.

The quality and cost-efficiency of flooring installation and finishing ultimately impact on the retail or rental value of the entities constructed which again has implications on the profitability of the developers who form part of the greater economic profile of the country. A Rubber Floor Finisher plays a critical role in the construction industry because they install and ensure the integrity of the installation of the rubber flooring. Currently, training for Rubber Floor Finishers is based on the following two qualifications: 1. National Certificate: Floor Covering Installation (ID 49022). 2. National Certificate: Construction: Installation of Floor Coverings (ID 24296). Typical learners will be those who have completed NQF Level or those currently working in the rubber flooring installation environment and who wish to improve their qualifications. This qualification will assist them in becoming competent Rubber Floor Finishers. The benefits accruing to the learner is the acquisition of a nationally recognised qualification that will improve their current knowledge, skills and competencies regarding the installation of the rubber flooring. Those currently employed in the flooring sector will gain recognition for the competencies they have acquired. This occupational qualification will increase employment opportunities for Rubber Floor Finishers because they will receive a high standard of training that is comparable with international standards. The qualification will produce competent learners who are able to contribute to improved productivity and efficiency within the broad construction environment. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): RPL for Access to the External Integrated Summative Assessment: Accredited providers and approved workplaces must apply the internal assessment criteria specified in the related curriculum document to establish and confirm prior learning. Accredited providers and workplaces must confirm prior learning by issuing a statement of results or by certifying a work experience record. RPL for Access to the Qualification: Accredited providers and approved workplaces may recognise prior learning against the relevant access requirements. Entry Requirements: • NQF Level 1 qualification with Mathematics.

• Perform an assistive role in the installation of rubber flooring.
• Install rubber flooring.
