The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to restore and prepare substrates and install linoleum flooring. A qualified Linoleum Floor Finishers will be able to install linoleum flooring.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): RPL for Access to the External Integrated Summative Assessment: Accredited providers and approved workplaces must apply the internal assessment criteria specified in the related curriculum document to establish and confirm prior learning. RPL for Access to the Qualification: Accredited providers and approved workplaces may recognise prior learning against the relevant access requirements. SAQA Rationale▾

The quality and cost-efficiency of floor finishing and installation ultimately impact on the retail or rental value of the entities constructed which again has implications on the profitability of the developers who form part of the greater economic profile of the country. This qualification will equip a learner with the necessary skills and competence to operate as a Linoleum Floor Finisher. A Linoleum Floor Finisher plays an extremely critical role in the construction industry because they install and ensure the integrity of the installation of the linoleum flooring. Currently, training for Linoleum Floor Finishers is based on the following two qualifications: 1. National Certificate: Floor Covering Installation (ID 49022). 2. National Certificate: Construction: Installation of Floor Coverings (ID 24296). Typical learners will those who have completed NQF Level or those currently working in the linoleum flooring installation environment and who wish to improve their qualifications. This qualification will assist them in becoming competent Linoleum Floor Finishers.
