Purpose

The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to operate as an Equestrian Coach or Instructor Level 2. The Equestrian Coach or Instructor Level 2 develops and offers qualifications to Equine, Equestrian and/or Equine and Equestrian combination performance for purpose and offers mentorship programmes to Equestrian Instructors Level 1. A competent learner shall display the following attributes: tenacity, interpersonal skills, punctuality, integrity, honesty, and loyalty and will be able to support the development of a horse's way of going, be able to provide initial dressage guidance and flatwork coaching, and help riders work over grids, small courses and cross-country fences. A qualified learner will be able to: • Develop a training programme for Equine purpose within the equestrian industry. • Train and develop Equestrians for purpose in accordance with equestrian industry standards. • Train and mentor Instructor Level 1 for purpose.

Rationale

This qualification is designed for learners who completed the Occupational Certificate: Equestrian Coach Instructor Level 1 qualification and wish to advance their careers as Equestrian Instructors. It offers learners with additional competencies that will enable them to design equine and equestrian qualifications and train and mentor equestrian coaches. This qualification will be accessed by learners that wish to progress in their career within the Equine and Equestrian Industry, continuing their learning within the industry for further job opportunities and to have past learning and industry experience formally recognised. The qualification is designed for learners who can work unsupervised in an equine and equestrian establishment and for those who aspire to work at supervisory and management level. Learners may aspire to, or already work in a range of equine and equestrian environments including but not limited to: leisure organisations; competition yards; racing stables; riding schools; tourism establishments; the mounted service organisations and riding for the Disabled. Learners who successfully complete the qualification can advance their careers by taking higher level responsibilities and/or pursue entrepreneurial opportunities within the Equestrian industry.

Learning Assumed to be in Place & RPL

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): RPL for access to the External Integrated Summative Assessment: Accredited providers and approved workplaces must apply the internal assessment criteria specified in the related curriculum document to establish and confirm prior learning. Accredited providers and workplaces must confirm prior learning by issuing a statement of results or certifying a work experience record. RPL for access to the Qualification: Accredited providers and approved workplaces may recognise prior learning against the relevant access requirements. Entry Requirements: The minimum entry requirement for this qualification is: • Occupational Certificate: Equestrian Coach or Instructor Level 1, NQF Level 5.

  • Develop a training programme for Equine for purpose within the equestrian industry.
