Diesel Electrical Fitter

The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to operate as a Diesel Electrical Fitter. A Diesel Electrical Fitter maintains, inspects, qualifies, overhauls, repairs, assembles and fits diesel engines and electrical and mechanical parts. A qualified learner will be able to: • Plan and prepare work site, equipment, tools, consumables, and materials for diesel electrical fitting and maintenance activities and operations. • Install, connect and commission electrical and electronic equipment and control systems. • Diagnose and repair faults on electrical and electronic installations and equipment. • Assemble, qualify, install, maintain and repair mechanical components and auxiliary equipment. • Diagnose, maintain and repair faults on diesel engines and related diesel engine system components.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): RPL for access to the external integrated summative assessment: Accredited providers and approved workplaces must apply the internal assessment criteria specified in the related curriculum document to establish and confirm prior learning. Accredited providers and workplaces must confirm prior learning by issuing a statement of result or certifying a work experience record. RPL for access to the qualification: Accredited providers and approved workplaces may recognise prior learning against the relevant access requirements. Entry Requirements: • Level 2 with Mathematics. Or • National Technical Certificate N2 with Mathematics.
